200 MW Installed Since 2024
200 MW of solar along with 100 MW of battery storage have been installed since and tied to the grid since 2024.
420 MW is Under Construction in 2026
420 MW of solar and 180-230 MW of battery storage is under construction (Foxtail Flats, Four Mile Mesa, Sunbelt Solar).
372 MW of Solar is Planned
372 MW of solar is planned (Shiprock Solar).
Foxtail Flats and Four Mile Mesa, two new solar and storage projects, represent a $750 million investment in Northwest New Mexico — the largest economic development project the region has seen in a decade. Together they’ll create 600 new jobs and career training opportunities, and generate ongoing revenue for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, on whose land the projects are sited. These projects also help New Mexico hit a key target: up to 450 MW of renewable energy required under the state’s 2019 Energy Transition Act.
Locally, our utility-scale solar projects take up approximately 5.5 acres per megawatt of capacity, in line with the industry range of 5 to 10 acres per MW (about 100–200 kW per acre). At that density, one acre of solar panels can generate roughly 440 MWh of electricity per year.
